How to Write the University of Virginia Essays 2020-2021.
The Common Application Personal Essay. First-Year Applicants: The essay demonstrates your ability to write clearly and concisely on a selected topic and helps you distinguish yourself in your own voice. What do you want the readers of your application to know about you apart from courses, grades, and test scores? Choose the option that best.
UVA uses the common app, and the generic common app question is: Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. Meanwhile, their supplement essay is: How do the possible career or professional plans you indicated on the Common Application relate to your planned course of study?
Please use Virginia Tech’s College Information tab to see an overview of the application process. We do not use the Common App Personal Essay, letters of recommendation, the school report, or final report. As a reminder, Virginia Tech is test-optional for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle.
While we don’t want to limit you from fully expressing your ideas and responding to our supplemental essay question, we recommend that you keep your response to around 250 words. The word allowance on the Common Application and Coalition Application forms is 300 words. This is to give you flexibility and to ensure your essay is not cut off.
Duke Supplement Essay Prompts. You’ll have to answer at least two and as many as four Duke supplement essay prompts for your Duke application. All students are required to write one longer essay. The essay you write will be determined by whether you’re submitting the Common Application or the Coalition Application (Duke accepts both).
Princeton Supplement. In addition to the Coalition Application or Common Application, Princeton University requires the Princeton Supplement.You submit the Supplement online through either the Coalition Application or Common Application. You will be able to view the Supplement in full on whichever application you choose, after you add Princeton University to your list.
